Attack of the Virus 'Agent Smith' on 1.5 Million Android Phones in India

There have been reports of virus attacks on phones of 2.5 million Android users of several countries including India. According to Israeli cyber security research company Czech point, this dangerous virus has targeted the Android users of developing countries such as India. This virus can hack whatsapp and many other applications easily. After that it creates duplicate version of hacked applications and installed it in their place. Later hackers can steal users personal data with the help of this.

What is Malware

Malware is a software that works like a virus. That means it can be installed on the phone and infects the data to the users. It can enter in computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices through the Internet or an application. Later, many personal information such as contacts, messages, bank details, login emails of users can be stolen with the help of virus.

Agent Smith Malware

According to the Czech point, this malware named Agent Smith can be easily accessed by the device. It shows ads with financial profits to users, which can be used to steal the users banking details. This malware is similar to Gooligan, Hummingbad and CopyCat.

According to Forbes, this malware is attacked on nearly 1.5 million Android smartphones in India. At the same time, 3 million in the US and 1,37,000 Android smartphones in England have been affected. This third-party app came in the phone via 9apps.com, which is the app of China's Alibaba Group. After the malware attack, the Czech point company has told users to be alert.
