ISRO Develops 'Navigator' Navigation System, Can Replace GPS

Nowadays we have to go to some new place and if we do not know the way, then we go with the help of GPS i.e. Global Positioning System. Through apps with this feature such as Google Maps, Here Map etc. we can navigate anywhere across the world. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is also developing 'Navigator' global positioning technology just like GPS. This technology will be released by the end of this year, which will be accessible to you from smartphones to other positioning devices.

Let us tell you that GPS was developed by American scientists. Today it can be transported anywhere around the world with its help. Technology company Qualcomm has completed testing of this technology developed by ISRO. It is named Navigation with Indian Constellation (Navigator) System, which operates through ISRO's satellite. It has been developed as an alternative to GPS in the Indian subcontinent.

"The initiative will help accelerate the adoption of NavIC and enhance the geolocation capabilities of mobile, automotive and the Internet of Things (IoT) solutions - with the backing of engineering talent in India," Qualcomm had said in a press statement. The collaboration delivered the first-ever NavIC demonstration using the Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ Mobile Platforms on September 19.

"We're pleased to enhance our commitment to India by enabling support for NavIC in our chipset platforms and continuing our work with ISRO to accelerate NavIC's adoption," said Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager, 4G / 5G, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

This system has been showcased at the Mahakumbh IMC 2019 of Technology held in New Delhi. ISRO stated that Qualcomm bought this technology for its chipset. It will be made available to mobile manufacturers from November this year. Qualcomm is the first company in the world to buy this technology of ISRO. Through this technique, the geographical location of the Indian subcontinent can be ascertained.

ISRO NavIC has been fully developed in India. Through this system, the geographical location of remote areas of the country can be detected. Currently all the devices in the country are connected through GPS navigation system developed by the US. Whether your smartphone or smart watch or location tracker, position tracking is done only through GPS. After the development of this new alternative navigation system, geographical location can be detected through this system in many devices.
